Primary One is finally upon us!

2016 is here and off our dear little boy goes to primary one. Goodbye to the safe and secure childcare environment that we have been so used to the pass 4 years.
It's Day 1 and I get to go along to school with him. Couldn't help feeling emotional and choked up when he trotted off into his class and again when they recited the morning prayers which I used to recite every morning years ago.

It was nice seeing him smiling a big smile each time he spotted me when looking around to see if I was there. So sad I can only tag along for one more day :(
I'm pretty sure he'll do fine on his own but right now it's just so hard to let go. Sigh! Silly mummy!

Dear Sammy,
I hope you will like school,
I hope you will make some good friends,
I hope you will enjoy learning,
I hope you will grow up to be caring, kind and responsible,
I hope you will share with us daily about what goes on in school.
You're growing up fast and sometimes it feels like mummy can't catch up with how fast the days are passing.
Be strong and brave!
Xoxo

Bittersweet

Yesterday I noticed that the little boy's bottom front adult teeth were cutting through his gums from behind his milk teeth. He was excited with the thought that he was growing up and getting bigger.
That night it later dawned on me how fast he's growing up... My little boy is fast growing into a little man and I kinda felt a little sad. Time seems to be passing to fast. It seemed like it wasn't too long ago that he was flashing us gummy grins. Sigh!

What?? Primary one already?!

Seriously need a slow down button somewhere! In a matter of months time my little man will be going to primary one!! Gosh...! All grown up already? But mummy's not ready for P1 yet!! *bawls*
Not exactly really looking forward to it given the stressful education standards we have here in SG. Sigh, and the thoughts of 6am mornings and homework battles are another thing.
Weekends will definitely become more precious from then on and shall try to plan fun activities for him as much as possible!

20th July, we have registered Samuel for Saint Gabriel's Primary School. We were #19 for day 1 of phase 2B. Waiting for the registration, it still felt surreal for me somehow.
We are hoping for the best this evening when the MOE website gets updated after 7pm, please.... No balloting please!!!

Swimming!:)

The smallys have started taking swimming lessons! It's been 2 lessons so far.
Well, big smally has gotten from being fearful to having fun but small smally has gone from fun to fearful! Geez, so she's going to stop lessons. Pity though coz we thought she was doing great.

Awww what a cutie in that suit!

It's just that she can't seem to get the hang of breath holding when underwater. Oh well, we will try again maybe later in the year.
She was a little sore about it when I told her we'll be stopping her lessons. She attempted to protest by claiming she can kick water which means she can swim.
After her feeble attempts she was resigned that she won't be having classes and proceeded to say that she would be staying home and won't be going to watch korkor swim. Hurhur... What a feisty cutie! :p

Update: cutie didn't stop lessons... She managed to muster her courage and carry one! Way to go!:)

The best cooker!

Made brown rice salmon porridge for last Saturday morning's breakfast and was rewarded with the 'Best Cooker Award' by the little boy:
"Mummy you are the best cooker because you cook porridge for daddy me and meimei today! I like mummy!"
And he said that with a big smile on his face.
I'm glad a simple gesture like this can make you so happy my little Sammy!:)

Time...

Ask any mummy what she wished she had more of.. And she'd probably tell you Time. Well, at least that's what I'd say!

I'd wish that time would pass slower... Maybe that'll be possible if we had more hours in a day...

I'd have a chance to spend more time with them, slowly watching them grow up n enjoying every minute of it.
I'd be able to wear them and bring them about with me for a longer time.
Then I'd have more time to bring the kids out to have fun at the zoo, the beach, the various interesting exhibits around town and not worry about nap time coming up,
I'd have time to read more to them,
have time to play and play and play with them,
have time to hug them all day and not hv to do anything else,
To do all these for a longer time so that I could build more memories before they grow up.

Time, passing too fast.. making it so so precious!

Byebye baby... Off to school

Our little cutie is off to school today. Time sure seems to fly by too fast n our last little bird is now hopping out the nest to school.
I hope she takes to school well. But I'll miss being bossed around the house.
I'll miss picking her pretty outfits to wear for the day.

I'll miss her dancing to Hi5.
I'll miss her lying on me n watching tv.
I'll miss planning little activities which she will enjoy for 10 minutes or so...

I'll miss lazing around the house with her and annoying her with little kisses and squeezes.

I'll miss making her little snacks and meals.
I'll miss taking afternoon naps with her n holding hands.

I'll miss lugging her out to shopping trips and lamenting how heavy she is n naughty for refusing to walk sometimes!
I'll miss my little baby girl... Coz she's growing up too fast! :(

Thoughts on a thunderstorm dawn

It seems like one of the worst thunderstorms we are having ever! Lots of flashing lightning too!
I used to love rainy nights/predawn coz it meant a nice cool sleep in... But with kids, it's quite the opposite, esp if yours are terrified of thunder!
Rainy or thundery early morning are spent dragging yourself out of bed when u hear the little yelp/whine that follows after the booming thunder dies down.
I call it Answering the call of parenting! Hurhur!
Ok, now thank God the storm has died down! Time to catch few winks before those imps wake up!!

The bigger bean is 4

How time flies!:) our bigger bean is 4 now! Look at him... He's grown so much and so fast. Somedays I still miss him when he was a tiny little thing back then. I wish the days would move by slower so this cute phase would last longer... But... Alas.. Time waits for no man/mummy!

We hope you enjoyed your day at the Night Safari little man!:) happy birthday and mummy, daddy, ah ma and meimei love you!:) *muacks*

The day the little girl decided she needed sharper fingers

Yesterday was a nightmare! Just like all curious little kids, this little girl decided to stuff her finger into the new pencil sharpener while mummy was busy.
The horror when Sammy asked me to look at meimei's "dirty fingers". She was thumbing something while holding onto the pencil sharpener, looking puzzled. On closer inspection, oh horrors of all horrors!!! It's blood!
My eyes almost popped out if their sockets!
Now strangely, the little girl didn't cry at all. Not even a whimper. She was puzzled by mummy's panic stricken face more than anything. I held onto the bleeding finger and wrapped it with tissue and she let me, without her usual struggle.
Each time I took a peep, more blood oozed out!! Arghh! Panic and more panic. What should I do!? Should I rush down to the clinic? Thanks goodness grandma was around to help keep me calm.
A quick google and I learned I'd need to wrap the cut and apply pressure for 10-15 minutes without peeping. 10 minutes went by while I prayed and prayed for the bleeding to stop... And suddenly my little girl who was silent all the while suddenly slumped against my shoulder!
Another panic! Why on earth is she falling asleep now?! Or has she fainted in pain?!?? I called out to her but nope, no response. More prayers said and I carried her off to run her finger under the tap. Thankfully this woke her up and she started playing with the water. (Weird one this girl is!)
The bleeding was still slowly oozing out so another 10minutes was spent applying pressure. Grandma prayed some more n finally it stopped... Much to the relief of everyone. I put on a band aid over the cut that went through her nail n cuticle (OUCH!!) n prayed it'll be ok.
What a bad fright we all had! I was close to tears but this little heroine didn't shed a tear throughout! Not sure if its me who's a chicken or to say that's she's too brave!
Sigh!! It's tough being a mom somedays! :/

New parenting math formulae

Ah.. the nightmare of having two kids having a nightmare in the same night!
Kid one nightmare + kid two nightmare = panda mummy!
Here's a new math equation for you.
So, here's panda mummy after only having about 2 hours of sleep all night. Lets hope I don't turn into tiger mummy halfway through the day!

The sleepless queen

When the queen of the house decides she doesn't want to sleep, nobody gets any sleep. Especially the mummy minion.
Her crying escalates as fast as a Ferrari engine (and as loud as one too) at full throttle.

On nights like this, I really ask myself why do we have kids for??
Sigh!! I wish there was some baby boot camp where I could pack her off to... For a week, a month or maybe even a year!
But I'd bet they send her back after half a day!
Oh SOS!:(

Temporary Single parenthood

Ok, so another week of living like a single parent! The other half is neck high with work so its just me manning the forts! (Thank goodness for mummy!!) Geez, it's really challenging sometimes... Esp when I can't drive!
I've been walking up n down amk ave 10 sometimes 2-3 times a day! Sigh, so near and yet so far! It's times like this that annoy me most! Have a car but can't put it to use!! Bleah!!!
On the brighter side, well, at least I get some exercise :S

Thoughts before bed

Every night before going to bed, I thank God for the two little angels he's given us. Even though sometimes during the day they behaved far from being angels!
But at night when I see them fast asleep in their beds, all is forgotten once again :)

Samuel is 3!:)

Our little boy is finally 3!
Although naughty at times he can be the sweetest little fellow.
He had been asking for a Dibo birthday cake for a long time but nearing the day he changed his mind to Angry birds instead, much to the annoyance of mummy!:<
So ok, angry birds it is for the party at school then! And Dibo for the party with his other lil friends! Yay! Everyone is happy!:)
But oh dear! The birthday boy is still very shy and melted at both celebrations! Hehhee!! Samuel! Next year don't be like that ok!!

Bad decisions and gut feelings...

When you make a decision, you bare the consequences. But what if a decision you made turned bad and someone else had to bare the brunt of it? And what if that someone was your little precious?
Ok, so Saturday evening we decided to get out of the house for some fresh air. Daddy D decided on cycling at ECP n little boy was delighted as he's been asking to go for some time.
Before we became a family of 4, we'd usually get the tandem bike n have Sammy in the front. Now that we're 4 we had to hv another plan.
We had tried having baby in the front and toddler in the back once but there were complaints from the back after a while. Baby at the back only produced loud wails... Geez!
So this time daddy d suggested maybe mummy m should clear the rust on her biking skills and we'd each take one kid, on separate bikes.
Hmm, ok... I think I could try cycling again... But please God, dun let me fall! Please please please!! So off I went, practicing n wobbling very clumsily around.
Sammy was thrilled to see mummy on a bicycle and kept wanting to ride with me. But u had to get the hang of it first. Geez how come it was just so hard that I was starting to get annoyed with myself for wobbling so much!
But I sort of got the hang of it after sometime, much to the delight of daddy d who was watching with 2 lil monsters from the side.(he'd given up trying to cycle w 2 kids.
To cut the long story short, daddy d suggested i take Sammy for a ride on the other bike we had rented with the child seat behind. Ok, this was a bad idea... My gut feeling told me it was... But I didn't want to disappoint the happy boy and said ok. Who was i kidding... I strapped Sammy in at the back n got on and wobbled away, with a cheering passenger at the back."
I'm going down a slight slope n a kid got in our path. I tried my best to avoid him but lost my balance instead.
Oh the horror and time moved in slow motion as the bike came crashing down. In my mind I prayed Samuel would be fine!
I didn't feel the sting on my knees. I just needed to know he's ok! Nothing broken please please please! I got up n saw him on the safety seat! Thank God for that! Of coz he wailed. A cut on his lower lip and a bruised arm. I'd be mad at myself if it was anything worse! Sigh! What was I thinking!
Luckily he was fine...
Next time I'm listening to my gut feeling! :( no more stunts and rash decisions anymore!

Day out with the babies OMO

Brought the kids out today on my own... No daddy and no grandma. It was an impromptu decision and I felt worried the moment daddy left us at bishan. With a toddler in the stroller and a baby in the sling, I almost considered heading back home again.
But I had promised a trip to the park so I had to keep it so we headed out to the botanic gardens!
It wasn't as bad as I expected. Sharlene fell asleep and I watched Samuel feed the fishes by the pond. It was quite nice actually :) but rather tiring.
Maybe one day we'll visit the gardens again :) when mummy has recuperated from today.

Getting bigger day by day

We lowered sharlene's cot recently as she now tries to pull to stand and we were worried she'd fall out of her bed. I have woken a few mornings to see her little head peeping over the railings while she sat up on her own, waiting to be carried out of her cot.
Seeing daddy D adjust the cot made me feel like it wasn't too long ago that we had just set it up. Sigh! Our little girl is growing up really fast!

Being a mummy pt1

Things are rather diff now that I'm a mummy... Hehehe! I had to draw this. Maybe I'll start a mummy series of cartoons... If I have the time!:S
